Though we have published rounded port dimensions for tuned enclosures, it's a nice move to go for slotted design enclosures with bifurcated air channels.

The magic figure would be 154 sqcm of area. Go as close as possible to this figure.

I can suggest an example, please modify as per the box you plan to make:-

--12 inch dia sub will require 13 inch box height, at least. That's 1/2 inch margin at top & bottom. Cater for box material thickness separately (Recommended thickness 12 to 18 mm, depending on density/weight of box material or floor pegs used to arrest bass vibration)

-- Make slot of 1.8 inch (4.57 cm) breadth x 13 inch (33,02 cm) length = 151 sqcm

-- A total box volume of 87 litres will be sufficient viz---- 33 cm (Height) x 52 cm (width) x 51 cm (depth)
